This unit provides details of the way in which the resources are organised at the physical level within a Resource Grid. We include organisation across frequencies/sub-carriers (including Resource Blocks, and Bandwidth Parts), organisation over time (including Frame Structures), and organisation across antenna ports (including Multiple Resource Grids). Physical channels and Signals are also explored.

• Accurately relate the use of Resource Blocks in 5G NR, and compare it with their use in 4G
• State the basic rules for the allocation and use of Bandwidth Parts, and discuss their purpose
• Interpret the relevant frame structures used in 5G, differentiating between the various slot formats and symbol period / sub-carrier spacing configurations
• Make sense of the resource grid in terms of channel and signal mapping, and including resource grid/antenna port mapping
