Unit overview
Mobile broadband is the final piece in the broadband jigsaw, and a viable alternative to fixed broadband for an expanding set of customers. This unit looks at the mobile broadband techniques used to provide a more complete service (over and above the data connectivity provided by 2G to 5G systems), including NGN, support for VoIP, and multimedia support via IMS.
By the end of this course you will be able to:

•Outline the role of mobile broadband in the wider context of broadband technologies
•Relate the various techniques used to support NGNs, VoIP, and IMS to the wider system – describing with clarity the relationship between each
•Compare and contrast NGN and supporting technologies to legacy systems – highlighting the advantages and main issues that need to be overcome to enable successful deployment
This unit is for those new to telecoms or for those requiring a better understanding of telecommunication technologies and networks.
