Fundamentals of Telecommunications - Unit 20

In stock
Unit overview
The General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) introduced packet data to GSM, and the underlying concepts have been developed further to provide support for packet data in 3G and 4G systems. In this unit, the concepts are explored in enough detail to build an overall picture of how data networking capabilities were deployed into cellular systems, and then enhanced with the development or air interface capabilities using EDGE (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution).

They provide training on telecommunication technologies across the industry sectors and on a global scale, including mobile and fixed network operators such as EE, O2, Three and BT, as well as transport, defence, energy and emergency services.
What you will learn
By the end of this course you will be able to:

•Represent the GPRS architecture diagrammatically, labelling the key components and their functions
•Describe the PDP Context, including the way it is used set up paths through the network with the right Quality of Service
•State with clarity what data rates improvements are provided (compared to standard GPRS) by EDGE and EDGE Evolution, as well as the main considerations in ensuring the performance improvements can be met
Who should learn
This unit is for those new to telecoms or for those requiring a better understanding of telecommunication technologies and networks.
