Unit overview
This section introduces the fundamentals of Basic Cellular Concepts, including the cellular concept, handover, transmitter and receiver architectures and performance metrics for cellular systems. The section is divided into three units: Analog vs Digital Communications, Basic Modulation Schemes and Higher Modulation Schemes.
By the end of this section you will be able to:
• Gain a working knowledge of the basic cellular concepts underlying mobile communications systems
• Understand performance requirements and metrics for cellular transmitters and receivers
This section is aimed at graduates through to experienced employees working in the telecommunications industry either as engineers, marketing professionals or managers, who are looking to upskill in areas of current and future mobile communications technologies and standards.
